What is Dyslexia?

Neurological Basics.

According to the website The Reading Well, our brain is split up into three main sections. The cerebrum, the cerebellum and the brainstem. We will just focus on the cerebrum for now.The cerebrum is divided into two hemispheres and four lobes. Occipital is near the back ,frontal near your forehead , parietal and temporal are in between.  You may ask why this is important to know? In the left hemisphere we find that you use this the most when you read and it has two  areas that usually have to do with language. This is the Brocas area( frontal lobe) and the Wernicke's area  (back of the brain). In a person who is not dyslexic they are using the back of their brain near the Wernicke's area and in the  Occipital and Temporal lobes and in a dyslexic person they rely heavily on the Brocas area toward the frontal lobe.
